Land Acknowledgement
The United Women’s Empowerment Alliance acknowledges that we are operating on the traditional territories of diverse Indigenous Peoples across what is now called Canada. Our work is rooted in Manitoba, where we recognize the lands as part of Treaty 1 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
As a national organization, we recognize that our efforts to empower women and equity-deserving communities take place on the unceded and treaty lands of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Turtle Island. We honor their enduring presence and contributions, as well as their ongoing struggles for sovereignty, cultural survival, and social justice.
We commit to learning from Indigenous communities, amplifying their voices, and working towards reconciliation and equity in all that we do. We stand in solidarity with Indigenous women, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people, and strive to create spaces that honour the land, its original stewards, and the generations yet to come.
